MILFORD - Jean E. Satabe of Milford passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by her family. She was 76.
Mrs. Satabe was born in Baltimore, the daughter of the late James and Nora (Sullivan) Archer.
She relocated with her husband Richard from Columbia, Md., to Milford in 1989.
Mrs. Satabe was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, puzzles, traveling, going to the slots, spending time with her family and tea time with a special friend.
She will always be remembered for her humor and storytelling.
Mrs. Satabe was a member of the Daughters of British Empire and the Milford Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Richard W. Satabe, in 2003; and her brother, John Merkel, in 1968.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Kathleen Ebberts and Denise Redden; two granddaughters, Melissa Pitt and her husband, Bill and Amy Spahr and her husband, Matt; a grandson Michael Redden and his fiancée, Amanda; a great-granddaughter, Madison Pitt, who gave Mrs. Satabe tremendous joy; and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Avenue and School Place, Milford.
Friends may call at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford from 7-9 p.m. today.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the American Cancer Society, 9 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720; or to the American Heart Association, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
