MILLSBORO - Janet Ruth LeVan, age 60, of Millsboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her home. She was born in Salem County, N.J. to the late, Dare and Doris Peterson. Janet was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church; Long Neck United Methodist Church; Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fire Association; Delmarva Volunteer Fire Association and Sussex County Ladies Auxiliary. She was also past Secretary of Delaware Valley Fire Chief's Association and member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Department, where she served as Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as Pack Leader for Boy Scout Troop#54. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Davidson; and brother-in-law, William Davidson. Janet is survived by her husband, Joseph LeVan, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Juana LeVan and their two children, Izabella and Joey LeVan; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Andrew Atkins and their five children, Andrew Atkins, Joseph McDowell, Abigail McDowell, Nathan Atkins and Emma McDowell; sister and brother-in-law, Ella and David Clough; sister and brother-in-law, Winnie and Wallace Carey; nine nieces and nephews and twenty three great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
