Somerville, 68 NORTHPORT, ALA.- James Ward Somerville died Feb. 6, 2013 at home. Jim was born Feb. 29, 1944 in Dover, Del. to James and Emma Elizabeth Ward Somerville. He was a 1962 graduate of Dover High School where he was the Senators' 1961 Most Valuable Football Player. In 1962, Jim became the first Downstate player to be named MVP of the Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star Game. He attended Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown, N.J. and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, John Tombesi of Dover, Del. Survivors include his wife, Harriett Smith Somerville of Northport; his sister, Nancy Somerville Martin (Phillip) of Hartly, Del.; his niece, Gina Tombesi Baumgartner (Jason); and great-nephews, Corban and Jasper Baumgartner of Magnolia, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
