James Raymond Porter Jr.

Porter, Jr., 60 HENDERSON, Md. - James Raymond Porter, Jr., 60, of Henderson, Md. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore. He was born on January 23, 1953 in Dover, Del. to the late Violet E. Casper Porter and James R. Porter, Sr. of Smyrna. Mr. Porter was employed with local food processing factories and spent many years training and driving standard breed harness race horses. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ann Porter. Mr. Porter is survived by his father, Jim Porter (Hazel) of Smyrna; a brother, Danny Porter of Seaford; a sister, Melissa Clifford (Peter) of Louisiana; three daughters, Lisa Nickerson (Jason) of Henderson, Crystal Porter of Greensboro, Lora Christopher of Goldsboro; and a son, James Porter III (Christel) of Hartly; seven grandchildren, Jason Cory, Jonna and Jevan Nickerson, Dylan Greenwell, Amber and Kyle Christopher and James Porter, IV; and his loyal dog, Snickers. A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where relatives and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
