TRAPPE, Md. - James Paul Brown, 72, of Trappe, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009. Born Oct. 29, 1936, in McDaniel, he was the son of the late Samuel Adolphus Brown and Annie Brown Bailey. James attended the Talbot County Public School System and graduated from Robert Russa Moton High, Easton, in 1955. He married Betty Loucastle Greene, Oct. 10, 1981, and they made their home in Trappe. His places of employment include the following: Noble Motor Rebuilders for 38 years; the Tidewater Inn and Conference Center at Easton, Maple Hall Boarding House in Claiborne, the Miles River Yacht Club, The Myers, Mason's and Garden & Garnishes Catering Services, Velocity Express Courier Service and Delmarva Data Processing Center, Easton. James was a loyal and dedicated member of New St. John's United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Sunday School, the Methodist Youth Fellowship, member of the Church Choirs, Finance Committee, the Administrative Council and he also served as the Church Treasurer. His community activities included years of active and devoted participation in the Tidewater Acapella Choir, a member and Past Worshipful Master of Star of Bellevue Lodge #86. Other than his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; three brothers, Samuel, Douglass and William; three sisters, Ola, Anna and Thelma; and one grandson, Jeffrey. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (Robert) Clay of McDaniel, and Vercie Owens of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, James Troy (Simone) Brooks of Preston, and Patrick (Mary) Owens of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Alice J. Adams of McDaniel, and Bertha (Quentin) Wilson of Easton; one sister in-law, Dorothy Smith of Baltimore; seven nephews, Eugene (Daisy) Dickerson of Westbury, N.Y., Ernest (Irene) Dickerson of Hartly, Walter (Vanessa) Dickerson of Mobile, Ala., Douglas T. Brown of Columbus, Ga., Maurice Greene of Laurel, E. Saint Pierre (Agnes) Greene of Baltimore, and Bruce Smith of Lakeland, Fla.; three nieces, Sharmont Banks of Easton, Johnitha Brown of Columbus, Ga., and Grace Perkins of Easton; seven grandchildren, James, Cara, Jasmine, Quentin, Christopher, Melissa and Antoine; one goddaughter, Sylvetta Annette Lewis of Dover, Del., and an extensive host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at New St. John's United Methodist. Church in Wittman, Maryland, where friends may call two hours prior. Interment in Paradise Cemetery.
