James Gangemi, 65 GREENSBORO - Mario 'Marty' James Gangemi died on Oct. 16, 2012 in Bermuda. He was born in Woodbury, N.J.on Dec. 28, 1946 to the late John J. and Mary V. Gangemi. A lifetime resident of the area, graduating from North Caroline High School in 1965 he attended both Chesapeake College and Delaware State. He is retired from Choptank Electric where he was a regional manager. Marty started his life of public service as President of the P.T.A., and as a Choptank League Football coach winning the 1974 and 1977 Championship's while coaching the Greensboro Eagles. In several of those years he coached his sons, but all the players were his boys. He was a Little League baseball umpire, served as Caroline County Commissioner, a member of the Greensboro Lions Club and was Director for Caroline County United Way. He served on the Interfaith housing Board of Directors and was presently serving as a board member on the North Caroline Athletic Boosters. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Judy Brock. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years Alice of Greensboro; sons, Mario J. and wife Michele Gangemi and their three children, Kyle, Sophie, and Kyra of Elkton, Md.; Tony J. Gangemi and his son Tommy of Magnolia, Del. He also leaves behind his faithful companion Cassie his English Yellow Lab. A visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 27, 2012 in the North Caroline High School Auditorium. Interment will follow the service in the Greensboro Cemetery.
