DOVER - James E. "Jamie" Tieman passed away Oct. 5, 2012 at the Select Specialty Hospital at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. He was born at home on Layton Avenue in Wilmington, DE on Aug. 15, 1932, the son of Henry W. and Margaret Dawes Tieman. Mr. Tieman received an honorable discharge from the National Guard of Delaware. He was an active member of the Class of 1950 of the Caesar Rodney High School. Mr. Tieman retired from H.W. Tieman and Sons in January, 1995. He had a great love of family, home, gardening and farming, which includes marketing "Mums by Nancy". Mr. Tieman was a charter member of the Kent County Archaeological Society According to a visiting specialist from the Smithsonian his collection of American Indian Artifacts was the largest and most diversified on the Eastern Shore. He was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church for over 60 years. An Auxiliary member of the Camden Wyoming Fire Company and was an Eagle Scoot. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Baker Tieman; three children, TJ Tieman, Scott J.B. Tieman and Jodi and Bill Jones; grandchildren, Brittany Tieman, Kelsey and Megan Jones and Olivia Gavin; brothers, Henry and William Tieman; and many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Otis. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday Oct. 10, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call from one hour prior.
