CHESWOLD - James E. Ridley, of Cornnelia, Ga., passed away into the arms of his savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. James was born Nov. 16, 1940 in Cheswold, to Joel W. Ridley and Hazel H. Ridley. Jim graduated from Dover High School, Class of 1959. He was an Army veteran. Jim was a research analyst and retired from Southern Motor Carriers (S.M.C.) with 35 years of service. He was active in his church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. He performed missionary work with trips to Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Uganda with his wife Barbie, working with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Good News clubs and Summer 5 Day clubs. In addition to his parents, James preceded in death by his brother, Joel W. Ridey; his infant sister, Ruth R. Ridley; and grandson, Brian Blanchard. Survivors include his wife, Barbie; daughters, Cindy (Ron) Hudson, Faith Ferguson; sons, Randy (Cheryl) Ridley, Andrew (Rachel) Ridley, Danny (Kirsten) Ridley; and sixteen grandchildren, all of Ga.; he is also survived by sisters, Sue Urian (Smyrna), Martha Collins (Dover) and brothers Earl H. (Dover), Fred D. (Marydel, Md.) and Rev. Douglas (Kathleen) from Cambridge, Md., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services were held at Level Grove Baptist Church, Cornelia, Ga. with the Rev. Brian James, Rev. Douglas Ridley and Jim's brother-in-law, Dr. A. Wyatt Mullinax officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Ga. National Guard, American Legion Post 84 (Habersham, GA). the Rabun County, GA DAV Chapter 15, and the Grant/Reeves VFW Post 7720.
