MILFORD - James Duncan, 82, of Milford, passed away on May 28, 2014 at home. James was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Robert and Teresa (Buckley) Duncan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1950 to 1954. He was a Police officer for 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Detective for Middletown Township, in Pennsylvania. He received numerous awards from the Department, the Governor and the FBI Academy. After his retirement, he was a school bus driver with School Mule for the Sussex Tech High School from 1992 to 2006. He also worked part-time for Yard Shark. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #25 in Bristol, Pa., and the American Legion Jesse Sobe Lodge in Langhorne, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Romberger. He is survived by his wife, Lillian E. (Nesejt) Duncan; five children, James Duncan, Jr. and wife Maura of Doylestown, Pa., Jeannine Duncan of Milam, Pa., Jeannette Perkins and husband Johnnie of Dothan, Ala., Joyce Uzar and husband, Daniel of Ocala, Fla. and Jacqueline Sheridan and husband Larry of Georgetown; one sister, Teresa Pietrowski of Levittown, Pa.; brother-in-law, Ira Romberger of Hulmeville, Pa.; and ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2014 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
