White, DPM MILTON - Dr. James C. White, known fondly as "Doc", age 86, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2012. Dr. White is survived by his wife, Nancy L. White; son, Charles Arnsey White; daughters, Trudy White Schuyler, Donna Lou Wilson, Dana Heister and husband, Brad; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Born in Newark, N.J., on Oct. 22, 1925, Dr. White graduated from Milton High School and went on to graduate from Temple University School of Podiatry and earned his degree in Podiatry Medicine. Dr. White made his career in Milton, where he established his Podiatry medical practice from 1952 to his retirement in 2005. He served as Treasurer and President of the Podiatry Society of Delaware and had 50 years of service on the Board of Region III of the American Podiatry Medical Association. (APMA). Among its activities, Region III organizes a major annual scientific conference, offering podiatry physicians from PA, NJ, DE and other states a broad array of continuing medical education courses for credit. Dr. White was very active in the community as a member of the Milton Town Council, Goshen Cemetery Board, Goshen United Methodist Church, Endeavor Lodge # 17, VFW, American Legion, past President of the Shawnee County Club and a founding member of the Rookery Golf Course. He was a very proud and active member with the Milton Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. for 70 years. He also served as a director of the Sussex Trust Company prior to the merger with Wilmington Trust and was a member of the advisory board of Wilmington Trust. Dr. White served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnsey Conwell White; and his mother, Ethel Conwell White. Funeral Services will be noon, Saturday, March 7, 2012, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Goshen Cemetery, Milton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Milton Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., 116 Front St., Milton, DE 19968.
