James 'Jim' A. Ruffner Jr. died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at his home in Crumpton, Md. He was 82. James Ruffner Jr. was born August 6, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late James Ruffner Sr. and Virginia 'Dunn'. Mr. Ruffner attended Girard College for grades one through 11 and then finished High School at Temple Night School. Mr. Ruffner served in the United States Navy for 20 years and then went to work as a store keeper for C & P Phone Co. Mr. Ruffner is survived by his wife, Barbara Ruffner of Crumpton, Md.; two daughters, Leslie R. Lowman of Onancock, Va. and Lynne E. Reed of Elkton, Md; one son, David Ruffner of Sudlersville, Md; two grandchildren, Kenneth Reed of Landenburg, Pa. and Brian Reed of York, Pa.; and one great-grand daughter, Elliott Reed of Landenburg, Pa. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to the Delmarva Sportsmans Association, 816 Sudlersville Cemetery Rd., Sudlersville, MD 21668 or to the charity of your choice.
