DOVER - Jace-Remington Gage Huber was born on Dec. 27, 2009, and was carried to heaven by angels on July 30, 2013. Jace's life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence in life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He touched so many lives in his brief time with us. Anyone who knew him could not help but fall in love with him. His laughter would fill a room, and if you heard it, you could not help but smile. He could spend several contented hours watching movies. He especially loved SpongeBob Squarepants, Mickey Mouse, Cars, and Finding Nemo. He loved to be held or rocked. He would cuddle close to those he loved and make you feel like nothing else mattered but being together in that moment. He enjoyed music as well and would get so excited when one of his favorite songs would play. His big smile and laughter could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his thoughts and wishes could always be heard. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. With Jace's passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his infectious smile, he will forever remain in our hearts. All who knew him were able to create wonderful memories, and God truly blessed our family by giving us the privilege to be in his life. Jace leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Jace and his family with constant encouragement and dedication. A very special thank you to the doctors at A.I. duPont Hospital, the therapists from Easter Seals and D.V.I., as well as the nurses and volunteers from Hospice. We hold a special place in our hearts for the staff that took care of him on 3-F, his two loving nurses from Bayada, and everyone at Exceptional Care for Children. He is survived by his loving family in Delaware including Tasha, Zachary, and Machaela, as well as his grandfather, Ben, of Alameda, California. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family in Illinois. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, beginning with a gathering of friends and family at 7 p.m. followed by a short service at 7:30 p.m. This will be held at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, in Harrington, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, Jace's family would be honored to have you support Exceptional Care for Children, 11 Independence Way, in Newark, Delaware, as they provided love and dignity to both Jace and his family during his life as well as his death. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, visit our website at
