Smyrna - Irmgard T. "Irma" Stadler passed away on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Irma was born in Munich, Germany the daughter of the late Josef and Anna Scheurgger Wastian. Irma immigrated into the United States on November 3, 1959, and was proud of the fact that she was able to teach herself English by watching her favorite soap operas. She worked in the manufacturing industry and then went to work as a bar maid at Boyer's Tavern in Smyrna, working for several years until becoming ill. It was Irma's desire to help further medical science, donating her body for medical research to the State Anatomy Board of Maryland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Fritz Johnson and Buzz Johnson; two brothers, Josef Wastian and Franz Wastian and a brother-in-law, Hayden Leathery. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Joseph D. Stadler; four daughters, Manuela Samide, of Munich, Germany, Diana Shade (Robert), Debbie Steller (Jeff Campbell) and Ginni Stadler; two daughters-in-law, Norma Atkinson and Dawn Jory; two sisters, Erika Schmit, of Munich, Germany and Anna Wastian Leathery; one brother, Franz Wastian (Vera), of Munich, Germany; one niece, Regina Mayr (Reiner), of Augsburg, Germany; 14 Grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jamie Carter, Jason Atkinson, Tina Baynum, Dean Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Tim Morefield, Mindy Christine, Sheri Foster, Jeffrey Campbell, Christina Stadler-Spence and Katelyn Spence as well as nine great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
