DOVER — Investigation into a carjacking at a restaurant Saturday is ongoing, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.
Authorities said investigation began when police received a call for a stolen vehicle at Hollywood Diner at 123 N. Dupont Highway at 5:28 p.m. Officers responded and contacted the victim, a 17-year-old female of New York, who said that she was sitting in the passenger seat of a running vehicle, when a Black male entered the driver’s seat and began to back out of the parking lot.
The victim exited the vehicle in an attempt to escape, and the vehicle continued backing, causing the vehicle to strike the victim’s legs, police said.
The victim was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus and treated for minor injuries. The vehicle was located unoccupied at an apartment complex in Dover shortly after the incident.
The suspect is described as a Black male wearing all black clothing.
