Howard Sherman

MILTON - Howard Sherman, retired carpenter, of Milton, passed away on May 24, 2012. Howard was born in Harbeson, the son of the late Roy and Fannie Sherman. He was a carpenter most of his life, working for John P. Argo for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially rabbit hunting, crabbing and gardening and just being outdoors. He was a member of McColleys United Methodist Church in Redden and the Harrington Moose Lodge # 534. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by brothers, George P. Sherman and Jim Sherman of Florida; a sister, Irene Mitchell of Milford. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Thelma; a daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Donnie Brittingham; a son, Keith and wife Lori and a son, Kevin; two grandsons, Don Allan Brittingham and Keith Tyler Sherman; a brother, Ed Sherman of Milton; and sister, Isabel Sturgis, Ocala, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE where friends may call after 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
