DOVER — A 20-year-old Houston man was arrested after allegedly threatening a group of people with a handgun Saturday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
Dwahn Hooks was taken into custody without incident, after being found in a vehicle that fled the scene on Slaughter Street, police said. Officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 7:09 p.m.
Police said Mr. Hooks was located in a vehicle that was stopped in the area of New Burton Road and Dover Street. A loaded 9 mm handgun was found under the seat he occupied during a search, Sgt. Hoffman said.
Mr. Hooks was charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm while under the influence and violation of probation. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on an $8,000 secured bond.
