DOVER - Horace I. Ellingsworth passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Nevada, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75. Horace served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp, and was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League. He received the honor of the Marine of the year May 2009-April 2010. Horace was very involved in all aspects of the Marine family, and looked forward to working with Toys for Tots. He was retired from the construction business where he did siding and window installations and was last employed with Gede Siding and Windows. Horace was a registered umpire-ASA, USSA, Pony and high school. He was honored with his induction into the Delaware Umpired Hall of Fame on Feb. 26, 2012 for 50+ years of service. He was an avid bowler for many years, volunteered time at Spences Bazaar, helping his friends at Streets Produce, and one thing everyone remembered about Horace was he was always reading a book. Horace was a sports enthusiast and umpired baseball and volleyball. He was preceded in death by parents, William A. and Lillian B. Ellingsworth; sisters, Marion Wharton, Margaret Tyndall, and Virginia Willis; brothers, Edwin 'Ed' Law, Lee G. Ellingsworth, William B. Ellingsworth, and Walter B. Ellingsworth. Horace is survived by children, Robert Wayne "Bobby" Ellingsworth, Ronald Alan "Ron" Ellingsworth and his wife Angie, James Robert Craig, Vicki Gail Smith and her husband Wayne and Wendi Sue Powell; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and special nephew and niece, Francis Jack Law and Mae Simack. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Horace be remembered by a donation to Toys For Tots, (envelopes will be provided at the memorial service to be placed on a tree) or sent to Toys For Tots c/o Pippin Funeral Home. Letters of condolence can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
