LEWES — The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced that the Georgetown-Lewes Trail will be closed from Cool Spring to Savannah roads from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 7.
The closure is due to a required herbicide application for vegetation control. The rain date is Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DelDOT and its hired contractor said they only apply herbicides that are registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for vegetation-control purposes. EPA has determined through its testing process that when these herbicides are applied according to the label instructions, their application “poses no unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife or the environment.”
