NEWARK - The Delaware football team did not make the 24-team field for the NCAA FCS Division I football playoffs this morning.
The Blue Hens (7-4) have not made the tournament since reaching the national championship game in 2010.
The Colonial Athletic Association put four teams in the bracket – top-seeded James Madison, Stony Brook, Elon and New Hampshire. Delaware beat Stony Brook, lost to JMU 20-10 and didn’t play the other two CAA squads that made it.
The Hens’ case for being in the playoff field was undermined by an 18-17 loss to Towson and Saturday’s 28-7 setback at Villanova. Both losses were against teams with losing records.
