Hazel Doris Slacum

Hazel Doris Slacum, 66 SMYRNA - Hazel Doris Slacum of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, in the Milford Hospice Center. She was 66. Mrs. Slacum was born March 12, 1942, in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Samuel B. and Eleanor Moore Ellis. Mrs. Slacum worked as a cashier for Conoco in Odessa, for 9 years before retirement. She was the founder of P.A.N.D.A., (Parents Against National Drug Abuse). Mrs. Slacum's favorite hobby was traveling. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd F. Slacum; a daughter, Christine Hummel of Townsend; three sons, Lloyd Slacum Jr. of Wilmington, Philip Slacum of Smyrna, and Paul Slacum of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, James Ellis of Odessa, and Joseph Ellis of Hartly; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way Milford, DE 19963. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
