Hazel Bernice Berry

FELTON - Hazel Bernice Berry passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Bay Health Medical Center, Dover. She was born in Viola, Del. on Oct. 8, 1931 to the late Benjamin and Cora Elizabeth (Loper) Smith, she was the youngest daughter of seven. Her parents were co-founders of Mt. Plymouth AME Church, Felton, Del., where Mrs. Berry was a lifetime member. She was class valedictorian (Booker T. Washington H.S). Mrs. Berry was a teacher's aide at Care-A-Lot Daycare in Woodside, Faith Elementary School in Dover, and Kraft Foods employed for over 20 years. She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Thomas (Christel) of Hartford, Conn., Leslie of Felton, Sandra Mack of Dover, Michael of Georgetown, Craig (Mildred) of BenSalem, Pa., Kevin (Stephanie) of Riestertown, Md., Melinda (Keith) Nunn of Felton; and her only surviving sibling, Benjamin Smith of Felton. Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Mt. Zion AME Church, 101 N. Queen St., Dover, DE. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment in Gibbs Memorial Gardens in Woodside-Camden, DE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Plymouth AME Church, Country Road 239 Felton, DE 19943.
