Hayes announces run for 29th District legislative seat

DOVER — Republican Robin Hayes recently announced she plans to run for the 29th Representative District seat.

A dietitian who founded a nutrition consulting firm, Ms. Hayes said in a statement she is running “because it had become apparent ... that neither state agencies nor state legislators were aware of many of the ‘real’ issues facing our citizens today.”

She expressed concerns about the state’s health care and education systems and how they are impacting Delaware’s economy.

Democrat Bill Bush has also announced his candidacy for the seat. Incumbent Rep. Trey Paradee, a Democrat, is running for the state Senate.

“We need to give communities the tools they need to solve their own problems and to invest in their own talents and resources. The solutions are low-tech solutions,” Ms. Hayes said in a statement. “They are about investing in people, not just ‘systems’ and computers.”

The 29th Representative District has about 7,800 Democrats, 5,300 Republicans and 4,500 unaffiliated voters. The district stretches from Cheswold to just outside Dover.
