HARTLY — Catherine Samardza, 67, of Hartly, died from injuries suffered when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:18 p.m. when Ms. Samardza pulled away from a stop sign in a Toyota Corolla on Brittney Lane and was struck by a Dodge Ram that was traveling on Halltown Road.
Police said Ms. Samardza, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported from the scene to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
A passenger of the Corolla, a 74-year-old Dover female, was also wearing a seat belt. She was transported via ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 36-year-old Dover man, was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. He was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
