CAMDEN — A 35-year-old Hartly man died in a single vehicle crash early Saturday morning, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:57 a.m. on Willow Grove Road just west of Steeles Ridge Road, authorities said. According to police, William E. Clough was driving a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer westbound on Willow Grove Road at an apparent high rate of speed, when he lost control on a curve at which time the vehicle began spinning. The Chevy continued to spin and traveled off the north side of the road before overturning, causing Mr. Clough to be ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Mr. Clough was transported to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover with life threatening injuries but ultimately succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased on Sunday, police said,

Mr. Clough was not seat belted at the time of the crash, police said. Collision Reconstruction Unit investigation continues, according to authorities.

Willow Grove Road was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
