DOVER — An 18-year-old Hartly man was charged with drug and firearm offenses after a Thursday traffic stop, according to authorities.
Dover police said Aaron Carrillo was stopped for a speeding violation at approximately 1:44 a.m. in the area of Forrest Avenue and Dover High Drive. When the officers contacted Mr. Carrillo, they observed what appeared to be a handgun in the rear seat of his vehicle, police said.
The suspect was detained without incident. During a search of the vehicle, officers located 9 mm ammunition, a 9 mm handgun, 27 grams of marijuana and a 9.5-inch fixed-blade knife, police said.
Mr. Carrillo was charged with possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and traffic offenses. He was released after posting a $65,000 secured bond.
