Harry Frank Clendaniel

FELTON - Harry Frank Clendaniel, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover, Del. Harry was born May 6, 1924 in Frederica Del. to George Sanford Clendaniel and Lena Mae Baker Clendaniel. Mr. Clendaniel worked as a taxi driver and as a farmer in his early years and later as a mechanic for Willis Chevrolet in Smyrna, Del. for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Henderson, Md. for over 50 years where he served as First Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and on the Board of Directors. Mr. Clendaniel was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and during the summer months operated a small road-side market sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and neighbors. He always had a kind word and a helping hand for anyone in need. In addition to his parents and four brothers, George, Charles, Grier, William, he is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruby Leigh Clendaniel, who passed from this life on Jan. 2, 2011. Mr. Clendaniel is survived by four sons, Donald Clendaniel and Sheila of Dover, Del., Kenneth Clendaniel and Margie of Felton, Del., Mark Clendaniel and Brenda of Chillicothe, Ohio, Timothy Clendaniel of Felton, Del.; a daughter-in-law Betty Clendaniel of Greensboro, Md.; two brothers, Paul Clendaniel of Willow Grove, Del., Herbert Clendaniel of Hartly, Del.; two sisters, Mary Mitchell of Fla., Sally Dill of Hartly, Del.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Henderson, Md. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Rd, Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 310 Cool Spring Rd., Henderson, MD 21640.
