CAMBRIDGE - Goldsborough G. Farrow, formerly of Cambridge, finally met Jesus face to face on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009. He is the son of the late Goldsborough and Inez Farrow, he was born Aug. 6, 1948. A 1966 graduate of Mace's Lane High School, he also attended Western Maryland and Salisbury State University, and was a graduate of the World Outreach Bible College. "Goldy" was a disabled veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971 which included two tours of Vietnam. He married Peggy Wilkins in 1973, and they became proud parents in 1975 and 1978 to two sons. Together they founded Servant of God Ministries in 1989. Moving to Monroe, Iowa in 2007, they received ordination. Goldy was faithful to serving God up to his graduation to Glory. Goldsborough was an excellent athlete. Although he was ferocious on the football field, he was a gentle and compassionate man who would always take time to listen to or do anything, for anyone. He was a great youth counselor for White Oak/Morning Star Rehab Center as well as Chesapeake Center, and he was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who loved God. While there are numerous accolades of his life and character, Goldy was a simple man who spoke the simple truth, and was never boastful, arrogant or proud. He never sought recognition nor recompense for things he did for others. He had strong convictions on being a servant of God, and when his friends and family did not understand or accept the path chosen for him, he would simply say, "Oh well." In addition to his wife, Peggy, Goldsborough is survived by his sons, Goldsborough Farrow III (Iowa) and Jonathan (Palm Springs, Calif.); a grandson, Goldsborough Farrow IV (Iowa); future daughter-in-law, Charity (Garden Grove, Calif.); brothers and sisters-in-law, Ellsworth and Therese Thompson (East New Market), Paul and Karen Hooper (Bell Camp), Michael and Paulette Cornish and Tyrus and Niccene Farrow (Cambridge); a devoted friend and classmate, Dellyne Camper; Dwight Jackson, who was like a brother; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Goldsborough had a strong belief that, "It serves no purpose for people who do not communicate with you while you are living, to gather over you when you are deceased". He wanted people to remember him as he was when he was alive, and to, "Hear what I'm saying". To honor his wishes, Goldsborough was cremated March 2, 2009, by the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton, Iowa. There will not be a funeral service. Personal condolences and/or memorial contributions may be sent to Peggy Farrow or Servant of God Ministries, P.O. Box 1161, Monroe, IA 50170.
