WILMINGTON — Goldey-Beacom College has announced that Hannah Bakey, its international student coordinator, has been named a recipient of the 2022-23 Rising Star Award, presented by the American Council on Education Women’s Network Delaware (DAWN).

The honor will be presented by the network’s president Dr. Victoria Chang of Delaware Technical Community College at the DAWN annual awards dinner at 6 on Thursday via Zoom.

The Rising Star is presented to one person from each member institution. Criteria for the award includes a strong commitment to any aspect of higher education, community service and the promise of future leadership.

Goldey-Beacom president Colleen Perry Keith lauded Ms. Bakey’s commitment to the college and said, “Hannah has really involved herself in all aspects of higher education. She serves as both the admissions counselor and academic adviser for our international students. She serves as the college’s Title IX coordinator. She leads a First Year Experience seminar and teaches as an adjunct instructor. I’m excited and curious to see where her career in higher education goes next.”

Ms. Bakey has been with Goldey-Beacom for five years and is currently working with undergraduate and graduate international students from the point of inquiry through degree conferral and post-completion optional practical training.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in English and anthropology in 2016 from St. Lawrence University and her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing management in 2020 from Goldey-Beacom. She is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in fiction at Arcadia University, with hopeful completion in May 2023.
