Goldey-Beacom College’s ElShawarby receives Rising Star award

WILMINGTON — Goldey-Beacom College congratulates Sarah ElShawarby, director of human resources, as a recipient of the 2023-2024 Rising Star award presented by the Delaware ACE (American Council on Education) Women’s Network (DAWN).

The Rising Star award is presented to one person from each member institution. Criteria for the award includes a strong commitment to any aspect of higher education, community service and the promise of future leadership.

Goldey-Beacom College President Colleen Perry Keith said, “Sarah is one of those individuals who can step into situations, calmly assess them and bring people together. When we named her director of human resources, I had no qualms whatsoever that she would have a tremendous, positive impact on our community and operations. And she has. She is effective, kind, caring, disciplined and a true asset to Goldey-Beacom.”

As director of human resources, Ms. ElShawarby’s responsibilities include fostering a culture of continuous improvement and meaningful work, compliance, benefits, employee relations, talent management and performance management.

Ms. ElShawarby joined the College in 2019 and currently serves on several College committees including: Emergency Management and Safety, Faculty Rank Advancement and JEDI. She also co-chairs a Self-Study Working Group.

Ms. ElShawarby holds a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting and Information Systems, both from Virginia Tech.

The honor will be officially awarded on Oct. 26 at the Annual DAWN Awards Ceremony at Wilmington University – Dover Campus.
