Gloede: With Harris-Walz, ‘nothing will change’

Posted

Lorrie Gloede is a resident of Dover.

When San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris prosecuted “with disturbing zeal” a case of first-degree murder against actor Jamal Trulove, he said neither she nor her staff talked with him to get any information prior to his trial. He said Harris laughed when he was sentenced to 50 years’ jail time. After six grueling years in prison, he was finally granted an appeal and acquitted in a retrial, amid allegations of police and prosecutorial misconduct by Harris’ office.

In a video from her previous presidential campaign, Harris proudly declared that she would “snatch” patents from pharmaceutical companies if they had received federal money for research/development and didn’t comply with her rules on drug pricing. Before the primary, she encouraged Americans to reduce their intake of red meat, plus said she would decriminalize illegal border crossings and give the Boston Marathon bomber the right to vote. She received no votes and dropped out of the race.

Now that she’s the Democratic presidential candidate in 2024, she’s trying to distance herself from her past positions. Her campaign has quietly walked back her support for banning fracking, mandatory gun buybacks and other left-wing positions. She has rebranded herself as being tough on the border; can anyone think of anything she did while border czar the past three-and-a-half years?

CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings has said, “I’ve got Kamala Harris telling me she is going to be tougher on the border. I’ve got (Tim) Walz telling me he’s going to be protecting the Second Amendment. It’s like Democrats, all of a sudden, want to run as Republicans. The truth is they are liberal; they are progressive. The record backs it up; the statements back it up. The things you can look up on videotape that have come out of Kamala Harris’ mouth back it up.”

She was the tiebreaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, which called for millions of dollars to be given to the IRS to go after unreported tips in the service industry. Was that why 80,000-plus IRS agents were hired? Now, she seemingly agrees with Donald Trump that those tips should be free of taxes. Why did she “change her mind”?

The leaders of the Democratic Party carried out a coup to get Joe Biden to declare himself no longer a candidate. (And they accused Trump of inciting an insurrection!) All of a sudden, Harris is the best thing since sliced bread because they know she will be easy to control and that the same people who have been running the country while Biden has been president will continue to do so. Nothing will change. She does not talk about anything of substance; she only puts forth platitudes.

In addition to all the above, Kamala Harris may not be eligible to be president because of the natural-born Citizenship Clause in Article 2 of our U.S. Constitution. It is there to prevent the Oval Office from ever being occupied by someone who may possibly put foreign interests and influence above our own, particularly if we are in a state of war or similar circumstance. Natural-born citizens are true citizens at birth via purely natural causes, not a government process. Was Kamala Harris’ father a citizen at the time of her birth? Some do not think so. But who cares?

Nothing will change if the Harris-Walz team is elected in November. If they are backed up by a Democratic Congress, things will get worse. Vote but be aware of what your vote means for the people and our country.
