Leager, 89 GALENA, Md. - Gladys E. "June" Leager of Galena, Maryland died on September 9, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md. She was 89. She was born in Chestertown, Maryland on April 27, 1926, the daughter of the late William and Lillie Mae Brady Miller. She attended school in Chestertown and on August 12, 1943 she married Seaford "Pete" Leager, Jr. She and her family owned and operated Gladford Acres farm in Galena where she raised her children, grew beautiful flowers, and adored her horse "El Sicar" a trotter that was a record holder at Brandywine Race Track, winning over 400,000 in the mid 1970's. She is survived by her children, Allan Seaford Leager and his wife Kathy of Kennedyville, Md., William David Leager of Galena, Md., and Carolyn Thompson and her husband Jim of Wyoming; grandchildren, Brian, Craig, Mark, Peter, Chris, and Wade Leager and Annette Moore, Paul K. Lucas, Sharon Elizabeth Clark and Cristel Haltom; along with 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, Md., where relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the service 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Chester Cemetery.
