SALISBURY - Giancarla Fanin Lane, 76, of Salisbury, formerly of Delmar, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at her home in Salisbury. Born in Vicenza, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Gino and Gioconda Girardella Fanin. She graduated from the University of Vicenza in Italy with an art degree. In Vicenza she met U.S. Army PFC Jimmy Lane and was married there on March 1, 1960 and came to America shortly thereafter. After moving to America, she worked for the Wicomico County Board of Education with special needs children for over 10 years and also worked helping disabled adults at Dove Pointe, from where she retired in 2006. She was a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She is survived by three children, Janet Lane, Debby Lane and Gino Lane; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Laura Fanin, Flora Gasparini, Paola Vedovato and Loredana Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Spence Lane; and two grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. Interment will follow at Community Church Cemetery in Ocean Pines. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
