HARTLY - Gertraud Therese Winter Mitchell, best known as Trudy, of Hartly, De., passed away surrounded by family on Aug. 24,2015. She was born on April 2, 1933 in Wortham Main, Germany, to the late Hilda Winter. Trudy is preceded in death by her son, Thomas J. Mitchell. She is survived by her children, Anita Turner, Terry and her husband Gary Burris, Lisa Bourne, Allen "Buster" Mitchell, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She grew up in Germany during World War II. While times were hard during her childhood, she was still able to look back with fond memories of her family and the farm she grew up on. The day she became an American citizen however, was one of the proudest moments in her life. She often said that being an American is something we should never take for granted. Trudy was extraordinary, vibrant, and made the best banana nut bread. She loved anything with John Wayne and taking care of her pets. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and talking about her hometown in Germany. She had many amazing stories to tell about her life, and if you knew her, you were blessed. She will truly be missed. Memorial services will be Sat. Aug. 29, 2015, 12 noon, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE. Friends and Family may call one hour prior to service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family request memorials to be sent to a favorite charity. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com
