MILTON — A 48-year-old Georgetown man was charged with first-degree attempted murder and other offenses Monday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.
Jerome L. Weathersby was taken into custody in connection with an incident May 22, during which a 43-year-old woman was stabbed in the hand. The altercation occurred at approximately 11:19 p.m. on West Springside Drive in the Cool Springs development, authorities said.
Police said the woman’s vehicle was then struck three times by gunfire, as she left the scene with a 52-year-old man.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance after she left the area and called 911. She was treated for the injury to her hand and released, police said. The driver did not require medical attention.
Police said an investigation determined that Mr. Weathersby was a person of interest.
He was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangering and criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $173,500 cash bond.
