LEWES - Delaware State Police report the arrest of a 20-year-old Georgetown man who they say physically assaulted his sister’s boyfriend with a rock.
Kevin ShorterKevin Shorter faces charges of Assault First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony and Terroristic Threatening, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.
State police investigation began April 4 at approximately 12:52 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to the Beebe Hospital in reference to an assault complaint that occurred on John J. Williams Highway in Lewes.
Troopers learned that a 19-year-old victim had engaged in an altercation with his girlfriend’s brother, Kevin Shorter.
According to state police, the victim and his girlfriend were riding in a vehicle when they saw Shorter walking on John J. Williams Highway. The victim got out of the vehicle and confronted Shorter in reference to an earlier dispute the two had engaged in, Cpl. Jaffe said.
Shorter threatened the victim, grabbed a large rock and struck the victim with the rock, Cpl. Jaffe said.
The victim was privately transported to the Beebe Hospital and later transferred to the Christiana Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, said Cpl. Jaffe.
Shorter turned himself in at Troop 4. Shorter was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released after posting $21,000 secured bond.
