Georgetown burglary suspect apprehended in Millsboro

MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police with assistance from the Millsboro Police Department on Sunday apprehended Joshua C. Shockley, the 28-year-old Georgetown man wanted in connection with a residential burglary that occurred Friday, May 11 at a residence in the 20000 block of Kings Highway, Georgetown.

Shortly after noon May 12, Millsboro police officers received information that Shockley was occupying a silver KIA in the parking lot of the Wawa on DuPont Boulevard in Millsboro, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said.

Millsboro officers and troopers from Troop 4 located Shockley in the Wawa parking lot and took him into custody without incident.

Authorities charged Shockley with:  Burglary 2nd Degree; Burglary 3rd Degree; Theft under $1,500 (two counts); Criminal Mischief; Theft by False Pretense (10 counts); Falsifying Business Records (11 counts); and Selling Stolen Property (10 counts).

Shockley was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $40,500 secured bail, Cpl. Austin said.

Cpl. Austin said the crime occurred May 10 between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at a residence and a shed located in the 20000 block of Kings Highway.

State police say Shockley used forcible entry and fled with property.
