Georgetown: Brooklyn man jailed on drug charges following traffic stop

Marijuana and vape pens discovered and seized by Georgetown police during a traffic stop Tuesday that led to the arrest of a Brooklyn, New York man.

GEORGETOWN – A traffic stop conducted Tuesday by town of Georgetown police led to the arrest of a New York City man on drug charges when marijuana and vape pens were found in his vehicle.

Thanh Nguyen 49, of Brooklyn, New York was arrested for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, and possession of marijuana, according to Georgetown Police Department spokesman Det. Joey Melvin.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic violation stop March 12 shortly after 9 p.m. on South Dupont Boulevard near Trap Pond Road.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 22 pounds of marijuana. Officers also located and seized 300 THC vape pens from the vehicle, Det. Melvin said.

Nguyen was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court and released on $40,260 unsecured bail, Det. Melvin said.
