George D.Batchelor, 71
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - George D. Batchelor of Gainesville went to be with his Lord Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in Florida. He was 71.
He served 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and also was assistant director of clinical engineering at Shands UF, retiring after 30 years of service.
Mr. Batchelor was a disabled veteran.
He attended the Northwest Baptist Church, was a deacon for over 40 years and was a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Batchelor enjoyed traveling, church, family, music, fishing, yard work and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie Batchelor of Gainesville; his daughters, Cindy and her husband Dewitt Hughes, Becky and her husband David Mann, and Deb and her husband Bernie Daquila, all of Gainesville; a son, Doug Batchelor of Gainesville; his sisters, Edith Bryden of Worton, Md., Dolly Coleman of Laurel, Del., and Barbara Turner of Chestertown, Md.; his grandchildren, Amanda and her husband Jeremy Carpenter and Katye Hughes, both of Mobile, Ala., David Hughes, Andrew Mann, Brittany Daquila and David Daquila, all of Gainesville, Pam and her husband Bill Jobert of Mason, Ohio, Pam Mann of Amherst, Va., and Ricky and his wife Kelly Mann of Charlotte Courthouse, Va.; and his great-grandchildren, Trevor Carpenter, Natalee Jobert, Emma Jobert, Taylor Mann, Baleigh Mann and Colton Mann.
Funeral services were held in Gainesville.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Rock Hall, Md.
