DOVER - Genevieve McClay of Dover, departed this life on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at her home. Genevieve was born in West Rutland, Vt. on Aug. 29, 1925, to the late Robert and Genevieve Hanley Fitzsimmons. She was a registered nurse with over 40 years of service including Milford Nursing Home, DAFB Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Elsmere, Del. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hoevel-Barnett Post 1341, Bull Shoals, Ark. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert McClay in 2011; her son, Michael; brother, Robert Fitzsimmons; and sisters, Ellen Austin and Marie White . She is survived by four daughters, Maureen Harris and husband Michael of Fort Worth, Texas, Michele Gordon and husband Stephen of Dover, with whom she lived, Kathleen Bieg and husband Robert of St. Louis, Mo., and Eileen McClay of Atlanta, Ga.; sister Kathleen Hurley and husband Floyd of Governors, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Kelley Leeds and husband Matthew of Severna Park, Md., Patrick, Sean and Colleen Harris of Fort Worth, Texas, Alex, Andrew and Robert Bieg of St. Louis, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Collin Leeds of Severna Park, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE. Interment will be private.
