Gary A. Madden

WOODSIDE - Gary A. Madden, Sr. passed away Sept. 3, 2013 in the Veteran's Hospital, Elsmere. Gary was born on Dec. 26, 1947 in Hartford, Conn., son of the late Warren Madden and Gloria (Wildrick) and Oakland Remus. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence and later worked as a carpenter. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, listening to country music and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Bowers Fire Company for 40+ years. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lorraine Madden; four sons, Gary Madden, Jr. and his wife Denise of Marydel, Richard Madden of Magnolia, Heath Madden of Hartly and Jason Madden and his wife Lynn of Hartly; sisters, MaryAnn Bryant and her husband Ralph of Woodside, Nora Childers and her husband Steve of Woodside; two brothers, Bruce Madden and his wife Mary of Camden, Greg Madden and his wife Joan of Dover; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and an extended family and friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial with Naval honors will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Woodside United Methodist Church, P.O.
