
DOVER - Garland Dale Meyer of The Villages, Fla., died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Sumterville, Fla. He was born July 5, 1920 in Fairmont, Minn. He moved to The Villages one year ago from Dover Del. Mr. Meyer was a retired Master Sgt. in the US Air Force during WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a maintenance superintendent for the Delaware Home and Hospital for the chronically ill in Smyrna, Del. He enjoyed traveling, RVing, camping, boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Ardis M. Meyer of The Villages, Fla.; sons, Richard L. Meyer (Jeannie) of The Villages, Fla., Gary B. Meyer of Longview, Wash.; daughters, Jeanne Feurer (Thomas) of Frederica, Del., Mary Beth Day of Palm Coast, Fla.; sister, Phyllis Brewster of Colo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Steven Dale Meyer (1979). Graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11 a.m with Chaplain Joe Walker officiating and full military honors will be conducted by MacDill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
