GEORGETOWN - Gale Lynn Walls, 66, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at home with his family by his side. Gale was born on October 27, 1947, to M. Frances (Joseph) Walls Devonshire, of Georgetown, and the late Charles Elmer Walls. In addition to his father, Gale is preceded in death by his step-father, John Devonshire. Gale worked 13 years with Arrow Safety Device. He then went to work for DelDOT, as an equipment operator, retiring due to disability after 26 years. He was an active member of the Georgetown Fire Department for 44 years. He held numerous positions within the fire company throughout the years and was awarded the Lifetime Fireman of the Year in 2013. He was also a member of Red Men Council #21. Gale loved to be with his family, playing cards and planting flowers. In addition to his mother, Gale is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen (Reed) Walls; two daughters, Susan Walls, of Laurel, and Christina Paugh and her husband Randy, of Georgetown; a son, Jeffrey Walls and his wife Lisa, of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Sarah Wing, Jordan Walls, Nicole and Caiden Paugh; an adopted grandson, Charles "Chuck" Jones; and family friend, Connie Long and his furry friend, Lucky. A funeral service with full fireman's honors will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, Del 19971.
