Frederick Malone Stafford Jr.

Stafford Jr., 86 PRESTON, Md. - Frederick Malone Stafford Jr. passed away on Nov. 12, 2012 at his residence. Born in Vineland, N.J. on July 1, 1926, the son of Frederick M. Stafford Sr. and Elizabeth (Bessie) Bradley Stafford, he was raised in Caroline County and attended school in Denton, Md. Starting at age 18, he worked with his father as a carpenter. He continued a career in carpentry until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Stafford became a member of the Seaford Carpenter's Union Local #2012 in 1963. In 1991 the Local # 2012 transferred to New Castle, Del. Local #626 where he remained a member. Mr. Stafford was also a member of the Harrington DE Moose #534 for 40 yrs. As avid travelers, Mr. Stafford and his wife Louise set out on a quest to visit all 50 state capitals. After many miles they did achieve their goal, and had a lot of happy memories to share. He was a true family man who loved and cared for his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stafford is preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ware; five brothers, Phillip Lee, Carl George, Goldsborough James, Charles "Mike", and Thomas Harold Stafford. He is survived by his wife of 21 yrs, J. Louise Stafford whom he met in 1972. After sharing many years together they married in March 1991. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters; Arlene Bennett, Dinah Cheezum and husband Donnie, Karen Layton, Cheryl Stafford; one brother, Bradley Stafford of Greensboro; and five stepchildren, Carol Collins, Paul Collins, Debbie Sipple, David Collins, and Kathy Collins; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro MD. Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment services will follow at the Greensboro Cemetery.
