MAGNOLIA — A 61-year-old Frederica man was charged with felony DUI after a traffic stop Monday.
Delaware State Police said that at approximately 8:32 a.m., a motorist, while following a red minivan, reported that the van struck several curbs and swerving in the area of North Main and East Walnut streets.
During the check of the area, police said, a trooper observed a red 2008 Dodge Caravan crossing over the fog line while traveling northbound on South State Street.
The trooper conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the Delaware State Police Troop 3 parking lot. While the trooper was behind it, the minivan driver allegedly attempted to make a U-turn and drove up on the curb.
The trooper contacted the driver, identified as Norman St. Sauveur Jr., and observed signs of impairment, police said. Following field sobriety tests, Mr. St. Sauveur Jr. was arrested for DUI.
He was charged with third-offense DUI and traffic offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $5,060 unsecured bond.
