VIOLA - Fred P. McConnell passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del. Mr. McConnell served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his time served and very patriotic; he loved his American Flag. Mr. McConnell worked for over 46 years with Hardees-OTAC. He was a district manager for many years, and finished out his time there in maintenance. He was a dedicated and hard worker. His favorite pastimes included watching sports on TV, and watching his grandson Shawn play football and baseball. He enjoyed travelling with his family and loved cruises. He will be remembered as laid back, very quiet, and easy going. He rarely got upset, and got along with everybody. He will be truly missed as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. McConnell was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Chambersburg, Pa. In the American Legion, he was the past commander. He also belonged to the Camden Moose Lodge. He is preceded in death by his father Walter McConnell. He is survived by his mother, Mary McConnell of Volant, Pa.; loving wife of 44 years Elsie McConnell of Viola; sons and daughter in laws – Frank "Andy" McConnell (Wanda) of Felton, Randy S. McConnell (Karen) of Camden, Shawn P. McConnell (Rachel) of Felton; sisters, Karna and Althea of Volant, Pa.; and three grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE.. Visitation for family and friends will held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.
