MILFORD - Fred L. Geyer passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 in Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. Fred was born on Feb. 11, 1930 in Milford, son of the late Fred C. and Catherine Parker Geyer. He was a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dairy Husbandry and was a member of the Glee Club there. Mr. Geyer worked with his father's dairy business which produced milk products and ice cream before opening his own business in 1964. Geyer's Restaurant was a favorite dining spot in Milford for many years. Fred retired from the restaurant in 2004, leaving the daily operations to his sons. Fred enjoyed salt water fishing in the Delaware Bay. He was a member of the First State Harmonizers, the Lewes Men's Choir, Milford Lions Club and a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford where he was also a member of the choir. In addition to his parents, Mr. Geyer was preceded in death by a brother, John P. Geyer; a sister, Eleanor Farrell; and a grandson, Andrew Geyer. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Geyer; three sons, Dean Geyer and his wife Carrie, Bruce Geyer and his wife Susan, and Mark Geyer, all of Milford; a sister, Virginia Miles of Sarasota, Fla.; and nine grandchildren, Jordan Geyer, Kirstie Geyer, Myles Geyer, Zeph Geyer, Jarred Geyer, Hannah Geyer, Bonard Geyer, Tillie Geyer and Camille Geyer. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Walnut St., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held privately.
