REHOBOTH BEACH - Fred Frear, formerly of Dover, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Brandywine Assisted Living, Rehoboth Beach.
Mr. Frear was born April 19, 1934 in Dover to the late J. Allen Frear, Jr., and Esther Viola Schauer Frear.
Fred joined the U.S. Army after graduating University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and was a 1st Lieutenant. He worked as a banker for Delaware Trust and Beneficial National Bank. Mr. Frear was known for his gentle manner and his willingness to always lend a hand to whomever was in need. He actively pursued community service throughout his life.
Mr. Frear was a board member for the Blood Bank of Delaware, Delaware Agriculture Museum, Dover Rotary Club and DFRC. He was a member and former president of Delaware Bankers Association. He also served the City of Dover on the Planning Commission. He was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the YMCA of Delaware branch in Dover.
Mr. Frear was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and Calvary Assembly of God church. He could often be found near the oversized American flag at Block 'W' either playing bocci or backgammon. He was a lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Baylis, and daughter, Allison.
He is survived by his children: Leanne Towner of Wilmington, Marla Frear of Rehoboth Beach, and Joseph A. Frear, III of Dover; grandchildren: Dallas and David Towner.
Services will be private.
The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
