Franklin D. Adkins

DOVER - Franklin D. Adkins, of Dover, died on Oct. 13, 2013. Born in Dunham, KY., he was the son of the late Olan and Wanda (Smith) Adkins. Mr. Adkins moved to Maryland in 1943 and had worked for Armco Steel, retiring after more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was always interested in tanks and artillery. Mr. Adkins enjoyed hunting and target shooting, and was skilled at making his own ammunition. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Adkins is survived by his daughter, Kelly Dawson, of Salisbury, Md.; his son, Franklin Danny Adkins, Jr., of Maryland; his sister, Loretta Neumyer, of Dover; his niece, Donna Byrd, of Dover; a nephew, Michael Di Martino, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren. A service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at The Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his memory be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675. Life's End Services are by Michael J.
