Frank J. Nelson Sr.

DOVER - Frank J. Nelson, Sr. of Dover, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 78. Mr. Nelson was born on March 28, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late, William Gilbert and Margaret Bach Nelson. He has lived in the Dover area for 50 years. He worked for K-Mart for many years as an automobile mechanic and sales associate. He also operated his own lawn and landscaping business. Hunting and golf were hobbies he enjoyed. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his daughter, Bertha Krasulak in 1996; and his son, Frank J. Nelson, Jr. in 2010. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bertha Lane Nelson; three sons, Wesley E. Nelson of Dover, Jeffrey A. Nelson and his wife Peggy of Felton, and Bruce A. Nelson of Dover; his brother, William Nelson and his wife Gertrude of Philadelphia, Pa.; and his sister, Katherine of South Carolina; also surviving are five grandchildren, Crystal Chilcote, William R. Abbott, Jr., Frances Hickman, Martin Hickman, and Christopher Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Chelsea, Beonca, and Leah. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd.(Rt. 10) where friends may call from noon, until service time. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, Delaware.
