Francis W. Barney Jr.

MILTON - Francis W. Barney Jr., passed away on Sat., Mar. 9, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Wilmington, Del., on Jun. 8, 1930 son of the of the late Francis William Barney and Mary Frances Wright Barney. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald C. Barney. Mr. Barney was a graduate of Rehoboth High School Class of 1948 and was retired from the DuPont Experimental Station where he was employed as a lab technician. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War having been stationed on the USS Princeton. He was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Lewes, DE. As a member of the Shawnee Country Club in Milford he always enjoyed his game of golf, playing cards and reading. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Hegman Barney; three sons, Brian Barney of Fort Wayne, Ind., Brett Barney of Denver, Colo., and Brooke Barney and wife Kate of Newark, Del.; three daughters, Dawn Gunning and husband Kevin of Milford, Del., Lori McAroy and husband Frank of Lewes, Del., and H. Patricia Lodge and husband Doug of Milford, Del.; grandchildren, Holly and Julie Gunning of Milford, Del., Evan and Carla Barney of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Trey and Sundene Lodge of Milford, Del., Lilly McAroy of Lewes, Del.; and his mother-in-law Helen Hegman of Little Creek, Del. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Mon., Mar. 18, 2013 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
